The template

Sales leaders read resumes like pipeline reviews: numbers first, story second, and any vagueness is treated as a miss being hidden. The winning resume states attainment plainly, gives every number its context, and shows you can source — not just close what marketing hands you.

Structure

  1. Header + LinkedIn (they will check it; make them match).
  2. Two-line summary: "{{AE/SDR/AM}}, {{years}} in {{segment — SMB/mid-market/enterprise}} {{domain}}. {{Headline attainment stat}}."
  3. Experience — every role opens with the numbers row: "Quota {{amount}}/yr · attainment {{%}} {{year}}, {{%}} {{year}} · ACV {{range}} · cycle {{length}}".
  4. Then 3–4 bullets on HOW (below).
  5. Stack row: {{CRM, engagement tools, methodology — MEDDIC/SPIN/Challenger}}.

Bullets — before and after

Before (vague)After (numbers + mechanism)
Consistently exceeded sales targets112% and 128% of a {{quota}} quota in consecutive years; ranked {{2nd of 14}} AEs
Generated new business opportunitiesSelf-sourced 40% of closed pipeline through a personal outbound motion ({{N}} touches/week, {{X}}% meeting rate)
Managed key client relationshipsGrew a {{account}} from {{initial}} to {{expanded}} ACV in 18 months by landing two new departments; renewed 3 years running
Worked large complex dealsClosed the company's {{largest deal size}} logo against an incumbent — 9-month cycle, 7 stakeholders, won on {{differentiator}}

Handling imperfect numbers honestly

  • A miss year: context beats concealment — "84% in {{year}} ({{territory change / product pivot}}); rebuilt pipeline to 118% the following year." Recovery is a selling point.
  • No formal quota (early-stage): use what existed — revenue closed, logos landed, pipeline built from zero.
  • Never round attainment up. Sales leaders back-channel references more than any other function.

Signals by role

  • SDR: meetings booked vs. target, show rate, conversion to opportunity, and one line on your personalization system.
  • AE: attainment history, self-sourced %, win rate, deal-size progression.
  • AM/CS-sales: net revenue retention, expansion revenue, save stories with numbers.
  • Leadership: team attainment distribution ("7 of 9 reps at plan"), hiring record, ramp-time improvements.
