The template

This policy governs the use of personal devices — such as phones, tablets, and laptops — for work at Company name (the "Company"). Using a personal device for work is optional; if you choose to do so, the rules below apply and your signature confirms your consent to them.

1. Scope and approval

This policy covers any personal device used to access Company systems, accounts, or information, including email, chat, documents, and internal tools. Each device must be approved before first use. The device you are enrolling is: Device make and model.

2. Security baseline

  1. Protect the device with a passcode, biometric lock, or password, and set it to lock automatically when idle.
  2. Keep the operating system and applications updated, and enable device encryption where supported.
  3. Do not use devices that have been jailbroken, rooted, or otherwise modified to bypass manufacturer security controls.
  4. Install applications only from official stores, and do not install software the Company has identified as prohibited.
  5. Enable remote-locate and remote-lock features where the device supports them, so a lost device can be secured quickly.

3. Device management consent

  1. The Company may require enrollment in its mobile device management (MDM) tooling before granting access to Company systems.
  2. By signing, you consent to the Company applying security profiles to the enrolled device, such as enforcing a passcode, encryption, and the separation of work applications.
  3. Management controls are directed at the work profile and Company data. The Company does not intend to collect your personal photos, messages, or browsing history through these controls.

4. Data separation and acceptable use

  1. Keep Company information inside approved work applications and accounts. Do not copy work data into personal storage, personal email, or personal messaging apps.
  2. Do not allow other people, including family members, to use the parts of the device that access Company systems.
  3. Company information accessed through your device remains Company property at all times.

5. Lost devices and incidents

If an enrolled device is lost, stolen, or you suspect it has been compromised, report it to the Company immediately. The Company may suspend the device's access and remotely remove Company data to contain the risk. Do not attempt to investigate a suspected compromise yourself — for example, by continuing to use the device to check whether accounts still work — since doing so can deepen the exposure. Prompt reporting, even when you are unsure, is always the right call.

6. Off-boarding and removal of Company data

  1. When your employment or engagement ends, or when a device is retired, replaced, or sold, Company access will be revoked and Company data will be removed from the device.
  2. Where the work profile is separated, removal is limited to the work profile; where separation is not possible, you agree to cooperate with the Company to verify that Company data has been deleted.

7. Costs and support

You remain responsible for the cost of the device and its service plan unless the Company agrees otherwise in writing. The Company provides support for approved work applications, not for the device itself. If enrollment in device management causes a technical problem with the device's personal functions, contact the Company; where the issue cannot be resolved, you may withdraw the device from work use instead.

Acknowledgment

I, Employee full name, confirm that I have read and understood this BYOD policy, that I consent to the device management measures it describes, and that I agree to follow it whenever I use a personal device for Company work. I understand that I may withdraw the device from work use at any time by notifying the Company, at which point Company access and data will be removed.
