The template

This agreement sets out the terms of employment between the parties named below. It records the role, compensation, and working relationship, and takes effect once both parties sign.

1. Parties and position

Company name (the "Company") employs Employee full name (the "Employee") in the position of Role title, reporting to Manager name and title. Employment begins on Start date.

2. Duties

  1. The Employee will perform the duties reasonably associated with the position and any related tasks the Company assigns from time to time.
  2. The Employee will carry out those duties with care and skill, act in the Company's best interests, and follow the Company's policies as updated periodically.
  3. The Company may adjust duties, reporting lines, or title in good faith as the business evolves.

3. Working time

The position is full time. The Employee will work the Company's normal schedule for similar roles and any additional time reasonably needed to perform the role, consistent with Company policy.

4. Compensation

  1. The Company will pay a base salary of Base salary and currency per year, paid on the Company's regular payroll schedule and subject to applicable withholdings.
  2. Any bonus, commission, or equity component is described here: Variable compensation summary. If none applies, this field should say "none".
  3. The Company reviews compensation periodically. A review is not a promise of an increase.

5. Benefits and time off

The Employee is eligible for the Company's standard benefits and paid-time-off programs as in effect from time to time. Benefit plans are governed by their own terms and may change or end; this agreement does not promise any specific plan.

6. Work location

The Employee's primary work location is Work location. Any remote or hybrid arrangement follows the Company's remote work policy.

7. At-will relationship

  1. Employment under this agreement is at will. Either party may end the relationship at any time, with or without cause, and with or without advance notice.
  2. Nothing in this agreement, in Company policies, or in any handbook creates a promise of employment for a fixed period.
  3. The at-will nature of the relationship can be changed only by a written agreement signed by an authorized officer of the Company.

8. Outside activities

While employed, the Employee will not take on outside work or interests that compete with the Company or interfere with their duties, and will disclose any potential conflict of interest so it can be reviewed.

9. Confidentiality and company property

  1. The Employee will sign and comply with the Company's standard confidentiality and intellectual property agreement, which forms part of the employment terms.
  2. All equipment, documents, accounts, and materials the Company provides remain Company property and must be returned when employment ends or on request.

10. When employment ends

  1. On the last day of employment, the Employee will return all Company property, hand over in-flight work, and leave shared accounts and records in good order.
  2. The Company will pay earned compensation through the last day of employment in line with its regular payroll practices.

11. Entire agreement

This agreement, together with the documents it references, is the entire agreement between the parties about its subject matter and replaces prior discussions and offers. Amendments must be in writing and signed by both parties.
